Where is the Upper Lee Valley?

Located in North London, the Upper Lee Valley (the ULV) is a six-mile corridor within the London Boroughs of Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest2.

The Lee Valley Regional Park sits at the heart of the ULV, extending from the Olympic Site in the south to Hertfordshire in the north. Laced with green spaces and waterways, the ULV already provides the natural surroundings and raw ingredients needed to support its transformation into ‘North London’s Waterside’ – a vibrant and sustainable place to live and work.

The ULV is located within the London-Stansted-Cambridge- Peterborough growth corridor3, and is identified in the London Plan4 as an Opportunity Area. At over 3,000 ha it represents by far the largest Opportunity Area in London.

The area includes some of the largest remaining concentrations of industrial land in Greater London. Tottenham Hale in Haringey, Blackhorse Lane in Waltham Forest and Central Leeside and Ponders End in Enfield provide major opportunities for attracting inward investment and promoting regeneration.

The ULV’s main centres include Edmonton, Tottenham and Tottenham Hale, together with nearby Walthamstow. These urban centres comprise key, sustainable locations for development, where strong communities can grow, taking full advantage of existing public transport networks to provide major retail, employment and housing uses.
